17 Seconds

According to Abraham/Hicks, it only takes 17 seconds of focus to align with our desires. For me, this is the key to understanding ... everything.

I believe that it is a vibrational Universe. Everything is energy vibrating. It appears to be solid to the human eye, but it is not.

I believe that, in our observation of “what is” for 17 seconds or more, we are in fact taking on or matching the vibration of what we are observing, and we are giving it power... our power.

When we are contributing our power to or “matching” what we are observing, we may not even realize that we are doing it. That’s why it is crucial to focus upon the desired, and give only fleeting glimpses to the things that we would not prefer to have in our experience; because the universe does not distinguish between desired and not desired. It only recognizes vibration.

When we focus on something for 17 seconds or more, we begin to match its vibrations.... even if we’re saying “no, no... never!” Our attention to it is all it takes to align with it, and thus, draw it to us and give it our power.

So, the question becomes, do I want to contribute to this?

If the answer is yes, I continue my focus and reap the rewards. If the answer is no, I change my focus.... quickly! And, above all else, I do my best NOT to judge, expect trouble or push back when being pushed.

At least, I do this when I remember. We are so conditioned to “face reality” to “fight for what we believe in” to do what we “should” instead of what pleases us because forcing ourselves to vibrate in a way that is contradictory to the way our hearts are guiding us in order to please others is supposed to make us grown up or good citizens or something.

No wonder we’re so messed up!

I have noticed that asking: “What am I matching?” helps me to align with the peace that comes from alignment with one’s own personal well-being.

It takes a lot of practice, patience, imagination, and shifting of attention to determine and align with one's own heart's desires.

Sometimes I feel like the proverbial baseball player in left field, running after the pop fly... “I got it ... I got it...” (the ball thuds to the ground) “I don’t got it!” ... And that’s OK! The good news is, as Abraham/Hicks (again) so beautifully says: “You cannot get it wrong, and you’ll never get it done.”

Call me silly, simple, romantic.... whatever. It is of no consequence. Growth comes from diversity... from constantly tweaking one’s likes and dislikes and making choices. We will never all agree. It is not possible, but I can’t help wondering what we could accomplish if more and more and more of us were to focus on Universal well-being for 17 seconds or more each day.
